YANNIS TSALAPATIS
After many years working as a mechanical engineer, I decide to switch my professional orientation. My hobby and dream as a child, creating jewelry, became my way of living.
I get inspired mostly by the Greek nature, during my everyday walks by the sea, or the mountains, but also by the great art my ancestors created. I don’t consider myself an individual artist, but more a carrier of the culture heritage of my country, member of a greater group of local artisans.
During my lonely experimentation with various materials, I joined a local workshop of coppersmith, where I experienced the traditional way of working with metals, tracing thousands of years back in time. I improved my knowledge, working and learning, next to two of very important jewelry artists of my country.
Favorite materials: Silver, bronze, copper, semiprecious stones
Location: Athens, Greece
